Looking for a pizzeria in Arrecife serving real Neapolitan pizza? Here is what makes La Sonrisa different: DOC certification, ingredients from Campania and a fourth-generation pizzaiolo.
There is no shortage of places to eat pizza in Arrecife, but finding real Neapolitan pizza is another matter: soft, airy dough, a puffy crust, ingredients from Campania and baking that respects tradition. If that is what you are after on your Lanzarote holiday, this guide is for you.
Why La Sonrisa is a different kind of pizzeria in Arrecife
At La Sonrisa the pizza is made by Giglio Onelio Francini, a fourth-generation pizzaiolo born in Castellammare di Stabia, on the Gulf of Naples. His dough is highly digestible and worked with time, and every pizza is finished with extra virgin olive oil, Grana Padano and fresh basil.
In 2026 the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC awarded La Sonrisa two certifications: Pizzeria DOC and Pizzaiolo DOC, both with three peels. It recognises the quality of the ingredients and the way the dough is made.

The Neapolitan classics
The classic pizzas are made with San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella from Campania, just like in Naples. They can all be ordered in the «wagon wheel» size too, the extra-large pizza of the Neapolitan tradition.
Margherita — San Marzano tomato, fior di latte mozzarella and fresh basil. The ultimate test of any pizzeria.
Marinara — San Marzano tomato, garlic, oregano and basil: the oldest of them all.
Napoletana — San Marzano tomato, anchovies, garlic and oregano.
La Cosacca — San Marzano tomato and Grana Padano: simple and full of flavour.
Signature pizzas
Alongside the classics, the menu features signature pizzas created by Giglio, blending Neapolitan tradition with top-quality Italian produce.
Sonrisa — The house pizza: yellow cherry tomato cream, semi-dried red tomatoes, Taggiasca olives, anchovies, basil cream, buffalo mozzarella and Neapolitan taralli with almonds and pepper.
Margherita 2.0 — The Margherita reinvented with yellow pacchetelle tomatoes, semi-dried red cherry tomatoes, fior di latte and buffalo mozzarella added at the end.
Terra Mia — Friarielli cream, homemade sausage and provola: pure Naples.
Cuorniciello — San Marzano tomato, ricotta, pork crackling, Neapolitan sweet salami, provola and black pepper.
N'Buttunat — With a ricotta-stuffed crust, fior di latte, yellow and red cherry tomatoes, cooked ham and pepper.
A pizza named after the island: the Lanzarote
As a tribute to the island that welcomes us, the Lanzarote pizza combines San Marzano tomato, bacon, dates, goat cheese and fior di latte mozzarella. Sweet, savoury and very much ours.
To start: Neapolitan fried bites
Before the pizza, try the classic fried bites of Naples: the rice ball with homemade ragù, the potato croquettes and the montanara, a fried pizza topped with tomato.
